The successful applicant will join the growing R&D Team and have responsibility for the full development cycle. Overview

Supporting an expanding R&D Team, we are looking to recruit an Embedded Engineer. Depending on

experience and aptitude, this role could evolve to carry significant responsibility. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing firmware for downhole and surface tools. They will be responsible for the full development cycle. The company develops all its firmware in-house. Key factors in this design and development are:

  • Low Power
  • Safe failure modes
  • Building on existing tool suite
  • Innovative design

            

An Embedded Engineer will require the following knowledge and/or experience:

  • All levels of industry experience will be considered, from junior to senior level. The company is committed to recruiting the right person, rather than requiring a prescribed amount of experience.
  • Qualified to degree level (in engineering, physics, computer science, mathematics or similar) is preferred.
  • Experience with writing embedded C code on 8/16-bit microcontrollers.
  • Have completed complex coding projects in the past and can show examples of this.
  • A good understanding of the unique requirements and pitfalls experienced when designing code for microcontrollers.
  • Reasonable understanding of digital electronics and to a lesser degree, analogue electronics.
  • Familiarity with software design concepts and practices.
  • Lateral thinking, and the ability to find unusual solutions to design challenges.
  • Custom algorithm design, good at mathematics.
  • Teamwork and communication skills.
  • Proactive, and ability to take ownership of projects from inception to completion.
