A Logistics Coordinator is required on a permanent basis for a Marine Engineer based in Cove. The role is full-time and fully office based, however there is flexibility offered.

     

As Logistics Coordinator, you will be responsible for all logistics activities, including freight, customs compliance, imports and exports. You will work closely with teams to plan and arrange mobilisation of equipment in line with project deadlines.

       

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the equipment scheduler to ensure it accurately reflects all asset allocations to projects.
  • Executing logistics plans to move equipment and spares packages to reach destinations on schedule.
  • Understanding the company’s equipment spread configurations for onward transportation and developing load plans for breakbulk, out-of-gauge and oversized cargo shipments, creating shipping documents including dangerous goods certificates in collaboration with the Asset Team to improve efficiency.
  • Negotiating favourable rates and framework agreements with crane providers, hauliers, vessel brokers and freight forwarders.
  • Being the focal point for all equipment movements, quayside services and yard crane hires and raising and issuing PO’s and arranging police/inland transport notifications.
  • Managing quayside logistics scopes at mob and demob ports ensuring a safe and secure handling of cargo and focusing on cost optimisation within budgets.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across the business allowing for logistics planning, continuously updating equipment schedules as project demands evolve.
  • Creating and maintaining Import/Export Registers in SharePoint system for audit files.
  • Actively participating in periodic HMRC audits and external ISO audits.
  • Recommending optimal transport modes, routes, or frequency and planning space consolidation on flatbed trailers, heavy haulage and abnormal loads, platforms, flat racks, and open top containers.
  • Ensuring timely customs clearance of cargo for all Export and Import shipments.
  • Understanding all the elements of the import and export customs regulations and correctly interpreting this information to fulfil stakeholder expectations.
  • Assisting with verification of customs declaration information and the submission of such to the customs authority to address any issues/questions arising during the clearing process.
  • Identifying associated legislation for local customs requirements such as Temporary Import regimes in high-risk regions.
  • Implementing appropriate controls, documentation, and procedures to efficiently manage all transportation activities such as dispatching and tracking to support all of the company’s service lines.
  • Providing support to Sales teams with shipping costs and demonstrate extensive knowledge of Incoterms and evaluate all associated risks.
  • Developing a generic equipment shipping cost book for bid accuracy.
  • Providing logistics data to management to drive cost accuracy improvements.
  • Creating and implementing best practice logistics directives, policies, and processes to improve operational and financial performance.

         

Applicants to this role require:

  • Significant experience with freight/customs or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience of international customs legislation, especially with regards to classification and compliance.
  • Good understanding of incoterms.
  • Extensive knowledge of shipping and charter party contract terms.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of road, air, road, and sea freight shipping documentation including Incoterms and HS Codes.
  • Project experience in moving heavy cargo and out-of-gauge sea freight shipments preferred.
  • Able to multitask, work under high pressure and as part of a team.
  • Able to work on own initiative and be self-motivated.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with all levels of management, personnel, clients and other stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proactive, flexible and decisive.
