Assistant Accountant - VR/30553

Following a period of substantial growth, our client is looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis in Westhill. You will work on budgets, forecasts, tax compliance, and debtor management while contributing to process improvements. Ideal for a hands-on individual eager to make an impact in a dynamic Finance Team!

     

Reporting to the Management Accountant, this role offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of financial and analytical responsibilities:

  • Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts, including balance sheet reconciliations and providing clear financial explanations and commentary.
  • Analysing performance variances against budget and forecast, including revenue performance and direct costs.
  • Conducting overhead reviews, recording accruals and prepayments as required.
  • Overseeing fixed asset activity, including additions, disposals, and balance reconciliations.
  • Reviewing weekly revenue flash forecasts and contribute to insightful reporting.
  • Identifying key issues or problem areas and presenting recommendations to improve financial processes and outcomes.
  • Providing financial data and analysis to assist with annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for regional management.
  • Supporting the Aged Debt review process, working collaboratively with Sales Teams to minimise debtor days and assist with debt collection activities.
  • Addressing customer invoicing queries in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Preparing payroll and headcount reporting, focusing on key metrics and trends.
  • Delivering ad-hoc financial analysis as required by regional and senior management to monitor and drive performance.
  • Assisting with credit card expenditure processes and capex spend reporting.
  • Contributing to tax compliance activities, including preparation of sales tax returns and ad-hoc reporting as required.
  • Collaborating with External Advisors, including Auditors and Tax Consultants, to provide relevant financial information.
  • Offering support and guidance to junior team members and the wider regional team where needed.
