Assistant Tax Manager - VR/29522
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Tax Manager to join a dynamic and growing tax function within a global oil service organisation. This is the perfect role for an ambitious, CA/CTA-qualified tax professional looking for a chance to expand their skills and gain significant exposure across a tax function.
Due to an internal promotion, this role offers the chance to step into a key position. Reporting to the Tax Manager and working closely with the Tax Director, you’ll oversee the UK corporate tax compliance process, while also managing and developing a Corporate Tax Advisor.
The role focuses primarily on UK corporate tax compliance but also offers a variety of opportunities to get involved in advisory and consultancy work. You will have the autonomy to manage all aspects of tax compliance, working on everything from group relief claims to deferred tax calculations, VAT support, and US GAAP reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing corporation tax and deferring tax figures for UK statutory accounts.
- Managing the UK corporate tax compliance process, including relief claims, cross-border transactions, and liaising with External Advisors.
- Providing tax advice on structuring commercial transactions and M&A activity.
- Supporting VAT compliance and US GAAP tax reporting requirements.
- Supervising and mentoring the Corporate Tax Advisor, helping them to grow and develop.
- Engaging with HMRC on audits and enquiries, working closely with senior stakeholders across the business.
The Ideal Candidate:
The successful candidate will be a CA/CTA qualified tax professional with around 2-3 years of experience in corporate tax. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their career, with strong opportunities for growth and exposure to leaders in the business.
You will have:
- Solid technical expertise in UK corporate tax.
- A desire to take ownership of projects and manage compliance independently.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with both tax and non-tax colleagues.
- A stable work history, demonstrating commitment and long-term career goals.
While experience with VAT and US GAAP is desirable, it is not essential. The right person will have the drive to learn and take on new challenges.
Why This Role?
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a tax function that is recognised for its impact and contribution to the wider business. You’ll be working closely with senior leaders, gaining exposure to a wide range of tax and business matters. The focus may be on compliance, but the work is varied and offers a great deal of responsibility. The team is committed to supporting personal and professional growth, making this an excellent opportunity for someone keen to develop their career.
Benefits Include:
- 30 days holiday plus 4 bank holidays.
- Private medical insurance.
- Pension plan, income protection, and life assurance.
- Flexible benefits, including gym membership, travel insurance, and dental insurance.
- Relocation package for candidates willing to move to Aberdeen.
