Currently recruiting for an experienced Design and Development Engineer on a permanent staff basis for a Subsea company based in Dyce, Aberdeen.

    

The Design and Development Engineer will provide mechanical engineering support to the design, development, testing, manufacture, deployment and operation of new and existing products. 

         

Reporting to the CTO, the Design & Development Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Taking concepts and, with guidance from senior staff, developing them into fully realised, detailed engineering drawings and Bills of Material ready for third party manufacture.
  • Producing technical documentation, including calculations and reports, to support design decisions.
  • Helping devise, build and conduct in-house and third-party tests (including the test apparatus as necessary).
  • Interacting with the supply chain to source, assess and recommend parts, tools and services.
  • Using imagination and creativity to identify areas for improvement across the company's products and operations.
  • Helping solve design and operational challenges.
  • Designing, building and testing prototype parts and equipment as required (including 3D printing new parts and tools).
  • Supporting sustaining engineering processes as required.
  • Tracking, updating and playing a key part in the ongoing evolution of ISO 9001 processes and procedures used by the company’s technical staff.
  • Providing support to Business Development Team.

           

Experience / Qualifications:

  • A Mechanical Engineering degree qualification, or similar, would be preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, directly within the North Sea Subsea industry, is essential.
  • Applicants should have at least 2 years’ experience of working in subsea-related engineering design.
  • Experience with machining and fabrication tools / methods would be highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with ROV interfaces would be preferred.
  • Excellent working knowledge of 3D CAD tools (ideally SolidWorks) is essential.
  • Applicants should have a proven track record in preparing design models and detailed drawings.
  • Familiarity with rendering CAD models, in support of marketing material, would be advantageous.
