Currently recruiting for an experienced Drilling Engineer on a contract basis for an E&P company based in Kingswells, Aberdeen. It is a 12-month contract position, and the company are aiming for an early September start date. The company are only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role.

     

The Drilling Engineer will be responsible for planning design work related to the planning and operational delivery of wells. 

               

The Drilling Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Safety in well design and execution.
  • Working in multidisciplinary teams to deliver well planning and execution activities.
  • Delivering risk assessments in well planning and execution.
  • Delivering engineering feasibility and improving projects in support of department objectives.
  • Delivering, or QA/QC, field wide engineering projects in support of simplification and standardisation.
  • Performing QA/QC of engineering deliverables in well planning and execution.
  • Preparing well maturation reports.
  • Compiling main well planning reports.
  • Planning well on paper reviews and experience sharing workshops.
  • Engineering design using Landmark software suite.
  • Leading engineering design input from Contractors.
  • Developing and reviewing of well barrier schematics.
  • Evaluating offset data and implementing lessons learned.
  • Evaluating and specifying well equipment.
  • Preparing time and cost estimates.
  • Delivering well permits and notifications.
  • Developing and updating well schematics.
  • Performing detailed studies into new technologies, well design and optimisation projects.
  • Planning performance improvement workshops.
  • Delivering and managing the project planner inputs in the planning and execution phase of well operations.
  • Challenging the rest of the group to ensure that the work is done cost-effectively and that future well operations can be run in a simple and cost-effective way.
  • Participating in operational duty support rotas as required.

          

Experience / Qualifications:

      

Essential:

  • A relevant engineering degree qualification.
  • Previous or current IWCF Level 4 Supervisor Surface and Subsea certification.
  • Previous experience in a similar Drilling Engineer type role directly within the North Sea oil and gas industry.
  • Previous experience in a similar role with an E&P company / operator or a well planning consultancy.
  • 5 plus years’ experience in Drilling Engineering (planning and operations).
  • Drilling engineering experience on subsea projects.
  • Knowledge of UK regulations and requirements.

Desirable:

  • Offshore engineering or supervisory experience working on semi-submersible rigs.
  • Experience of working on subsea fields of 1000m+ water depth.
  • Experience of drilling operations in the UK West of Shetland or other harsh weather environments.
  • Broad knowledge and experience with wells (completion) planning and operations.
  • Knowledge of subsea wellhead systems.
