Currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical & Instrument Engineer on a contract basis for an E&P company based in central Aberdeen. It is a 12-month contract position, and the company are only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role.

     

The E&I Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Supporting Project Team in the identification of interests and drivers on projects.
  • Providing technical I&E engineering and controls support to the Projects Team.
  • Providing oversight of the Project EPC Contractors to ensure designs are in compliance with the site standards and support them with the prompt answers to TQs received.
  • Actively participating within HAZOPs, HAZIDs, design reviews and other relevant safety reviews (LOPA).
  • Ensuring all CAPEX projects are suitably scoped with regards to any proposed E&I activity.
  • Liaising with Electrical and Instrument Technical Authorities to ensure E&I proposals are aligned to the site requirements.
  • Managing functional safety compliance on CAPEX projects, ensuring ongoing conformance to functional safety lifecycle requirements of IEC 61508/61511, including verification of design/ installation and system certification.
  • Ensuring new E&I equipment installed are assessed for safety, health, environmental and quality impact with appropriate PM tasks identified.
  • Ensuring IS calculations and loop drawings are updated for all CAPEX projects.
  • Ensuring qualification/quality obligations are met for all project E&I activity.
  • Attending FATs as required.

      

Experience/Qualifications:

  • A Degree qualification in a relevant Electrical/Instrument Engineering discipline is essential.
  • Previous experience in a similar E&I Engineer type role, directly within the North Sea Oil and Gas industry, is essential.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, directly with a North Sea-based E&P Company/Operator, would be preferred.

      

  • Substantial E&I engineering experience in the following areas is essential:
  • Support planning.
  • Development, implementation and evaluation of improvements and modifications (management of change).
  • Involvement in projects from feasibility to handover.

      

  • Experience within the process safety field would be desirable.
  • Applicants should have knowledge of functional safety and experience of working IEC 61508 and 61511 standards.
  • Applicants should have experience of participating in HAZOP/HAZID/SIL assessments.
  • Applicants should have knowledge of the relevant standards associated with the management of safety instrumented systems.
