Hose Assembly / Pressure Testing Technician
Our client is looking for a Hose Assembly Workshop Technician. This is a key area within the organisation and the role of the Hose Assembly Technician is crucial to the on-going success of this part of the business. Extensive pressure testing experience required.
The main duties of this function is to assemble and test quality hydraulic, industrial and composite hoses which are fit for purpose and fully satisfy our customers\' requirements.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- To follow and comply with all safety rules and regulations in accordance with the organisation\'s Environmental, Health and Safety Management System at all times.
- To ensure that all tasks carried out are as per supervisors written and verbal instructions.
- To carry out all work to client specification.
- To ensure that all tasks carried out meet company QMS procedures.
- To be fully aware of component compatibility and competent in the use of products.
- To be able to identify and use appropriate fittings for fitting to specified hoses, as per customer specification.
- To carry out assemblies using a variety of hoses for industrial, offshore and hydraulic purposes.
- To be able to perform high pressure testing procedures.
- To understand the procedures involved when testing to higher pressures and its associated safety critical aspects.
- 0To be able to identify and use all types of hoses for the purpose specified by the customer order e.g. Rubber, PVC, Composite, Safety Air, Heavy Duty Bulk Material, BOP Control, Fire Water Mains Systems, Synflex, Polyflex, Push-Lok, Teflon, Bail Out Whips.
- To understand and carry out the process of Tube Fabrication in line with laid down procedures.
- To carry out all assembly techniques as per supplier or in-house procedures.
- To be familiar with A-Lok fittings, Autoclave, EO-2, Prestolok, Triple-Lok, QD couplings, instrumentation adaptors, ball valves, needle valves, tube clamps, sampling cylinders, distribution manifolds and their use.
- To advise and train, trainees when and if required to do so by Team Leader.
- To work off site as and when required.
- To be aware of environmental issues associated with workshop procedures.
- The ability to operate all hose assembly machinery and equipment.
- To ensure that work areas are maintained clean and hazard free at all times.
- To carry out routine, weekly safety inspections, as per area inspection check sheet, and to report all defects to the Team Leader immediately.
- To actively contribute to the overall team activities and promote good working practices.
- To ensure the accurate completion of timesheets within the correct timescales.
- To comply with Company personnel procedures at all times.
- To be flexible in providing cover for other areas within the Workshop, as and when required and during absence or holiday times.
- To commit to continuous improvement and development.
- To work overtime to ensure organisational or client deadlines are met.
Qualifications:
- Standard Grade level qualification or equivalent.
- SVQ/NVQ in relevant area.
- Counter Balance Forklift Certificate.
- Overhead Crane Operations Certificate.
- Banksman/Slinger Certificate.
- Fire Training.
Experience Required:
- Experienced Mechanical Technician.
- Hydraulic Assembly Experience.
- Experience in the operation of termination and pressure testing equipment.
- Previous experience in hose assembly.
- QMS Experience.
- Previous Overhead Crane Experience.
- Previous Forklift Experience.
Skills/Training Competences:
- Ability to work within strict standards and procedures.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Good communications skills (both written and verbal).
- Ability and aptitude to learn.
- Flexible and adaptable.
- Demonstrate a positive can do approach to work.
