Currently recruiting for an experienced Instrumentation and Automation Technical Authority for a global leader in floating production solutions (FPSOs). It is a permanent staff position based out of the company’s Aberdeen office.

    

It’s a global TA role where you’ll support the full fleet of vessels as part of the corporate team. 

             

As the Instrumentation and Automation TA, you will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Owner of technical standards, which defines the minimum requirements for new and operating assets.
  • Providing technical leadership, mentoring and expert advice to the wider organisation, where required.
  • Verifying activities to ensure compliance with technical standards, design performance standards and operational performance standards.
  • Facilitating technical lessons learnt through the Lessons Learnt Database, which will lead to the continuous improvement of Technical Standards and other engineering documents, methods and tools.
  • Verifying engineering methods and tools.
  • Supporting the Concept Development Department with concept developments, technical framing and value engineering studies.
  • Applying knowledge of industry rules, standards and guidance related to instrumentation and automation, such as: ABS, DNV, IEC, ISO, IEEE, etc.
  • In addition to instrumentation and automation, the Technical Authority shall also be the focal point for interaction with telecommunications and cybersecurity.
  • Collaborating with Projects and Asset Operations in the field of ICSS, SIS, metering, field instrumentation and actuated valves.
  • Designing and selecting IS and non-IS equipment for Explosive Atmospheres, including descriptive system documents, simple apparatus assessments, specific conditions of use assessments etc (IECEx CoPC Unit Ex 009 “Design of Electrical Installations” or equivalent).

             

Experience / Qualifications:

  • A degree qualification in Instrumentation & Automation Engineering, or a similar discipline, is essential.
  • Functional Safety Engineer (TÜV Rheinland or similar) certification would be preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar Instrumentation and Automation Technical Authority type role, directly within the North Sea oil and gas industry, is essential.
  • Experience with instrumentation, automation and control systems engineering and design is essential.
  • Experience with telecommunications and cybersecurity would be advantageous.
  • Experience of working on large FPSO projects would be preferred.
  • Experience in installation and construction, for understanding the practical aspects of field instrumentation and site engineering, is essential.
