Currently recruiting for an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer (Rotating Equipment) on a contract basis for an E&P company based in Westhill, Aberdeenshire. It is a 2-year contract position, and the company are only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role. Hybrid working opportunities will be available.

    

The Lead Mechanical Engineer (Rotating Equipment) will be required to technically assure and lead the engineering scope of work through the FEED and Execution stages of the project.  During the execution stage, the post holder will be required to technically package manage rotating equipment, from PO placement and commissioning, through to handover and operations.

              

The Lead Mechanical Engineer (Rotating Equipment) will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Technical assurance of all mechanical engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with relevant standards and legislation.
  • Developing technical specifications for rotating equipment required for project.
  • Package management of rotating equipment during procurement phase.
  • Developing and verifying scopes of work for FEED and EPCC contractors.
  • Managing multidisciplinary project technical assurance body of work.
  • Providing engineering support to site and other discipline teams (HSE, I&C, Maintenance, Inspection, Structural, Process, Piping).
  • Representing project at Project Technical Reviews.
  • Technical review and assessment of contractor designs and proposals.
  • Expediting delivery of rotating equipment in conjunction with supply chain and QA/QC disciplines.
  • Defining and supporting commissioning activities during execute / start-up phase.
  • Throughout the life of the project, ensure appropriate mechanical engineering input to P&ID reviews, HAZOPs, HAZIDs, Risk Assessments, SIL Assessments, Functional Safety Impact Assessments, and other technical safety assessments / audits, both during the actual assessment and during subsequent action resolution.
  • Liaising with HQ and Functional Technical Authorities regarding mechanical engineering requirements, rules and specifications.
  • Reviewing, commenting and approving mechanical engineering and other discipline documentation in line with delegated responsibilities from the Rotating Equipment Technical Authority.
  • Answering technical queries from FEED and EPCC contractors.
  • Input to field operations deliverables and studies as required. Operations, sparing, maintenance, start-up and shutdown philosophies.

              

Experience / Qualifications:

  • A degree qualification in a Mechanical Engineering discipline is essential.
  • Chartered Engineer status would be preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, directly within the North Sea oil and gas industry, is essential.
  • Experience in all aspects of the operation of mechanical equipment for hydrocarbon processing and rotating equipment is essential.
  • Extensive design house experience, especially in package management, is essential.
  • Experience in liquid ring compression technology would be preferred.
  • Experience in rotating equipment design would be preferred.
  • Experience with flare gas recovery systems would be preferred.
  • Applicants should have considerable knowledge of onshore / offshore process and production systems.
