Currently recruiting for an experienced Offshore Telecommunications Technician for an Oil and Gas client.

Although this position is for the company’s Offshore Telecommunications Technician adhoc pool, the successful candidate will be employed on a permanent salaried basis.  This position will be either based on a Platform or FPSO in the North Sea and the client is ideally looking to take on a candidate who is available for an immediate start. 

Job Purpose:

  • To maintain the process plant and associated equipment in a safe and efficient manner, in compliance with all statutory requirements.
  • Carry out planned preventative, remedial and breakdown maintenance in accordance with the company’s maintenance management system.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out preventative and remedial maintenance activities with a particular emphasis on safety critical activities.
  • Carrying out fault finding and diagnostic checks on all platform / FPSO equipment, ensuring any repairs are addressed promptly.
  • Responding to breakdowns in a timely manner and carry out subsequent and effective fault finding.
  • Carrying out and participate in Root Cause Analysis to improve equipment reliability.
  • Installing telecoms and IT equipment in liaison IS Department.
  • Carrying out Radio Operator duties where required.
  • Responsible for Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) on all IT equipment, telecoms test equipment and entertainment equipment.
  • Ensuring comprehensive records and logs are maintained and effective handovers are carried out at shift and crew changes.

Experience:

  • Prior and recent experience in a specific Offshore Telecommunications Technician position is essential for this role.

Applicants will be expected to hold the following certification / qualifications:

  • GDMSS Restricted.
  • CAA Licence.
  • City & Guilds or an equivalent Telecommunications qualification.
  • Recognised Apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Compex Training.
  • Portable Appliance Testing.
  • LV Authorisation.
  • ISSOW Level 2.
  • Current and valid Offshore Certification (BOSIET, MIST, Medical, EBS and Shoulder Measurements)
