You will be a dynamic and driven individual to lead the Operations Accounting Team. As the Team Lead - Operations Accounting, you will oversee a team of Operations Accountants, ensuring the delivery of essential accounting functions, including Exploration/New Ventures Outlooking, budgeting and reporting, Maintenance, Inventory, Logistics, and GRIR accounting.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your leadership skills, implement process improvements, and deliver high-quality services that meet the needs of the organisation. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including Senior Management, finance, and accounting professionals, to ensure smooth accounting operations. Reporting to the Manager – Accounting, you will lead a team of up to 5 direct reports, making a significant impact on the organisation’s success.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Leading your team to deliver high-quality results that meet business and finance stakeholder requirements.
• You will coach team members to develop their capabilities, set clear goals and objectives, and drive continuous improvement to ensure efficient processes and value-adding reporting.
• Supporting personal development through focused training, new technology utilisation, and on-the-job experience, you will manage resources effectively to ensure budgeted outputs and costs are met.
• Regularly defining and reviewing team roles and responsibilities, you will oversee month-end schedules, IFRS16, inventory transactions, and journal postings.
• Ensuring SOX and internal controls are documented, reviewed, and complied with, you will support joint venture audits and address complex logistics audit findings.
• Additionally, you will hold regular team and stakeholder meetings to ensure proactive planning and alignment and provide ad-hoc information and support to the Manager - Accounting as required.

Applicants to this role require

• Extensive experience in the North Sea upstream oil and gas industry, comprehensive accounting experience, and expertise in the application of SOAPs to an Operator.
• Proficiency in SAP systems is essential.
• You will demonstrate strong leadership skills, integrity, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups.
• Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or similar).
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and planning skills, along with a commitment to continuous improvement and process efficiencies, are essential.
