Currently recruiting for an experienced Petrophysicist Advisor on a contract basis for an E&P company based in Kingswells, Aberdeen. It is an initial 12-month contract position, and the company are only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role.

    

The Petrophysicist Advisor will support the evaluation of well subsurface abandonment designs in support of the company’s well abandonment programs. 

            

Reporting to the Geoscience Manager, the Petrophysicist Advisor will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Providing input and support into subsurface evaluation for well abandonment designs in support of company’s abandonment plans.
  • Processing and interpretation of log and samples data to identify zones of flow potential and their fluid content. Applies to both the reservoir and the overburden.
  • Developing pore pressure prediction and geomechanical models where required.
  • Processing and interpreting cement bond logs and assessment of natural shale barriers using petrophysical techniques.
  • Supporting the planning and execution of logging, sampling and testing operations and subsequent analysis as required.
  • Petrophysical data management.
  • Coordination of vendor support to ensure delivery of the petrophysical output.

                  

Experience / Qualifications:

  • An Engineering, Geology or Petrophysics degree qualification is essential.
  • Previous experience in a similar Petrophysicist type role, directly within the North Sea oil and gas industry, is essential.
  • Experience of well abandonment planning and operations within the UKCS is essential.
  • Applicants should have a comprehensive understanding of UKCS well abandonment guidelines and common practice.
  • Applicants should have experience with Petrel, as well as IP and MS applications.
