Senior / Principal Structural Engineer - VR/30329

Currently recruiting for an experienced Structural Engineer, at either Senior or Principal level, on a permanent staff bass for a leading engineering services provider based in Aberdeen.

     

The Senior/Principal Structural Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Assisting with resolving technical queries and ensure satisfactory design changes are captured by change control.
  • Producing calculations and participate in design reviews.
  • Approving, checking and preparing design/engineering documentation.
  • Producing documentation deliverables for inclusion in work pack and/or design books.
  • Preparing engineering, construction and equipment scopes.
  • Conducting site surveys, both onshore and offshore.
  • Responsible for a number of other engineering personnel to ensure work scope delivery and quality of work.
  • Responsible for delivery, as part of the team, for achieving the target and completion of engineering documentation within the budget and schedule.
  • Ensuring that all engineering work is carried out in accordance with priorities and schedules as set out in the plan.
  • Preparing engineering and construction scope for both labour hours and equipment estimates.
  • Identifiying increases or reductions in scope and assist in raising the necessary support documents.
  • Managing 3rd party suppliers in the execution of engineering delivery.
  • Where required, acting as focal point for assigned projects and jobs, managing the contact with the client.
  • Supporting preparation of pre-qualification responses, proposals, tenders and programmes for work for new and existing customers.
  • Participating in incident investigations as required.
  • Managing performance of any direct reports.

      

Experience/Qualifications:

  • A degree qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline is essential.
  • Chartered Engineer status would be preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, directly within the North Sea Oil and Gas industry, is essential.
  • Experience with STAAD software and Mathcad is essential.
  • Experience with offshore codes and standards, including AISC, is essential.
  • Applicants should have experience in the following areas:
  • Fabrication and constructability techniques.
  • Lifting aid design.
  • Installation techniques and LOLER lift plans.
  • Application of structural analysis packages.
  • Survey techniques.
